I’m Matthew Moran and I’m an Internet marketing consultant located between the two fine cities of Baltimore and Annapolis, MD.  I’ve been involved in some form of online marketing since the mid-90’s and have worked with a lot of different companies in a lot of different industries; both on the client-side as well as the agency-side.

Right now, I am working mainly with small businesses who are looking for a little bit of help with their web sites in order to gain more search engine visibility and more traffic.  But it doesn’t stop there.  I go beyond just increasing site traffic and go for the conversion.  In other words, I am not satisfied with just getting more traffic to a site; I am after highly targeted traffic that is going to do something.  That something can be a purchase; a download or a signup.  It’s what ever the purpose of the site is.

In order to accomplish this, I look at a site’s structure first, then I look to see how visible the site is to Google, Yahoo! and the other search engines.  This is because about 70% of traffic comes form people performing a search query in a search engine… and most of that comes from Google.

Aside from optimizing sites for search engines, I also set up and manage pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns using Google AdWords (sponsored links) and Yahoo!.  In fact,  will often use SEO and PPC to drive traffic to a site.  This has proven to be a very effective marketing technique.  You see, if a searcher sees a site listed in both the sponsored link area (paid advertising) and in the natural search results (unpaid) it tends to reinforce the decision to click on at least one of the listings.
